Reusable Nappies 101 for the Sustainable(ish) Podcast

To celebrate and mark the launch of  Jen Gale’s new book The Sustainable(ish) Guide to Green Parenting, I was delighted to join her podcast to record an episode all about reusable nappies.

It felt a little like I'd hopped in my time machine and gone back to Lockdown 1.0, where I'd made the crazy decision to put myself forward as a guest speaker on the topic of cloth nappies for author Jen Gale's virtual Sustainable(ish) Online Festival.

I had 'not-very-seriously-because-I-can't-possibly-be-a-'proper'-writer' been drafting ideas for an ebook, and so I approached preparing for the festival as the chance to show myself if I was, or was not cut out to write a book. I never intended it to be a paperback. I hadn't even considered independently publishing. I didn't dare dream my name would be on booksellers’s websites with a teeny tiny 'Author' underneath it.

Fast forward to just shy of a year on, and I was invited on Jen's podcast for a cloth nappy chat, my hair a bit longer (and messier thanks to lockdown hair cuts) than last year and my own real-life The Joy of Reusable Nappies book in hand. I guess I can now stand up as living proof that this is what happens when we are given the chance to believe in ourselves.

Sustainable(ish) Podcast

In Jen’s own words, she says:

This episode is very much NOT to bash anyone over the head with the big green bashy stick if you use disposable nappies - we did at the start with our eldest, and continued to do so at night and on holiday with both of them. As with all things Sustainable(ish) this is about finding what works for YOU and your family.
The reason I wanted to do this episode (and the reason there's a big section on nappies in the book) is that I know from my own experience that there are probably people out there who might want to give reusable nappies a go, but who feel overwhelmed and a bit daunted when they start looking into it.

Hopefully this episode, and
Laura's great book, might help to overcome some of that overwhelm and make it all feel that little bit more do-able.

Enjoy!
